Dan Meara

Dan is a Claims Specialist at KMS, having over 19 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors. Having begun his career at Minster Insurance, he joined the predecessor of KWELM Management Services in 1991 and played a key role in the implemention of an actuarial function, becoming responsible for reserving of the casualty treaty class. This function involved presentations to reserving committees, annual reserving exercises and secondment to PwC to work with the PwC actuarial team.  In addition, he liaised closely with the claims and reinsurance departments to effect multi-million dollar commutations and collections.

Most recently, he has been involved in the assessment of ultimate claim values including many with significant asbestos, pollution and other tort-related liabilities. His extensive experience in working with claims and legal professionals in the negotiation and settlement of claims has been instrumental in the successful court sanction of certain solvent schemes.
